SIT Student Association

The SIT Student Association is the recognized collective voice of the students.

The purpose of SITSA shall be:
1. Advocate for the SIT student body on such issues as student programs, student life, diversity and community.
2. Plan and/or implement and/or finance a varied program of student activities (in collaboration with DOSS when appropriate)
3. Ensure continuity of student representation, i.e work toward achieving progress on long-term or repeated concerns voiced in previous years by SITSA or other representative student organizations.
4. Responsibly disperse budget.

December 11 Minutes

Minutes of SITSA Meeting Dated December 11th 2009
Venue: Boyce
Time: 12:40
The meeting was chaired by Tony Drapelick

1.Brittany Smith send an apology for not attending the meeting due to other commitments.

2.Clarity regarding bookings of venues for the meetings was given. Tony stated that there were primary viewers who would take information to the schedule to confirm. He indicated that the confessed that the gap was noticed and that the matter would be settled.

3.Tony also reported that there were 19 new PIM students coming and would arrive on January 13th. Their orientation would be held from January 14th through 25th, 2010. A handout on the schedule was issued and would be kept for future reference. It was also said that the new students would take MBTI.

4.1. Matthew invited the SITSA members to attend the gathering organized in his neighborhood scheduled for December 11th 2009 at IC 101 from 6-8pm.
4.2. Matthew’s suggestion of incorporating the new students in the welcoming event scheduled for January 24th was supported.
4.3. He also suggested that SITSA might invest in the activities for about $6000 by taking numbers and see if the idea was supported or not. It was emphasized that basically SIT students had to take part in SITSA sponsored activities. Matthew indicated that SITSA would need donations in kindness or money. He urged that we should invite various thoughts about how people feel concerning the idea, and stressing the concept of collaborating.
4.4. The event was planned for May 8th, 2010 and the emphasis would be on connectivity and collaboration on ideas from a lot of people. Matthew was advised to do a thorough research on the matter. He was encouraged to explore when opportunities were granted.

5. It was drawn to our attention that open lines of communication had to be established to serve as a continuum into the future. i.e. Website had to designed and maintained for lifelong communication purposes.
