SIT Student Association

The SIT Student Association is the recognized collective voice of the students.

The purpose of SITSA shall be:
1. Advocate for the SIT student body on such issues as student programs, student life, diversity and community.
2. Plan and/or implement and/or finance a varied program of student activities (in collaboration with DOSS when appropriate)
3. Ensure continuity of student representation, i.e work toward achieving progress on long-term or repeated concerns voiced in previous years by SITSA or other representative student organizations.
4. Responsibly disperse budget.

March 19 Minutes

SITSA Minutes of the Meeting held on March 19th 2010 in Boyce Building

The agenda was as follows:
12:40 - Silent way
12:45 – TPRS
12:50 – V-Day
12:55 – SJ Mediation
1:05 – Voting
1:15- Updates/Adjustments

1.The chairperson gave an apology from two SITSA members.

2.The agenda was started bottom-up with the updates
1.Jason gave an update on the balance as $2730 with a list of requests that were approved.
2.Tony Drapelick confirmed that the SIT van to TESOL conference in Boston was secured
3.Minutes of the previous meeting were not available due to commitments that the scriber had.
4.We were informed there was a blog created for posting the minutes and availing them to all the communities on campus.

3.Requests
1.Kim Daelhousen presented requests for a funding of about $200 each. The request was to be allocated for the workshops on Approaches and Methodologies and she stated that the main focus would be on The Silent Way and TPRS. Handouts would be kept for record. Joseph Mukoroli1.expanded the explanation about The Silent Way showing how it would link with SIT community on a bigger picture. Kim was advised to advertise the workshop dates in IC during lunch.
2.Shayne Bell also presented for the request of $100 for the V-Day session that had been running from February 14th- April. Dates scheduled would be April 16th at 7:30pm and April 18th at 3pm.
3.The request presenters were Libby Hill and Ann about SJ Mediation of $1000.

4.The SITSA members voted positive towards the requests made. However, the SJ Mediation request presenters were to be advised to look for more assistance from other possible funders considering that the amount they requested.

5.The chairperson declared the meeting closed.
