SITSA MINUTES MEETING DATED MAY 07, 2010
VENUE: BOYCE

The meeting was chaired by Brittany Smith.

There was a CONTACT Program request made (see below).

There was a request for $500 by Julia Fisher and Noah Baker Merrill from Conflict Transformation (CT) to be added to fundraising they will hold to gather the remaining $1500 which would be airfare for someone from Iraq (currently living in Australia). They stated that they would appreciate response to be by May 14th. The presenters added that CONTACT was often a program for people who were and would be in SIT. They also indicated that she would give talks that would be open to all SIT community. The presenters responded to all the questions that were asked for clarity. The request form was filled and filed for records.

Matthew Abrams also presented his request for $400 for seed money for a community focused event and indicated the deadline to be May 21st. In his presentation, he read a letter of invitation that urged joining of community projects as a way to cultivate and continue relationships. He further emphasized that the project would be a benefit to SIT students to expand beyond the SITSA through collaboration. The request form was filled and filed for records.

MAT request was shifted to the next sitting, May 14th, since the presenters were not able to attend the meeting.

Two students came to discuss end of year party plans.

There was a note made from IE about end of the year party since they were planning to have one. The neighborhoods needed to clarify the dates for parties that were already under way to avoid being looked at as though they would be competing. They also indicated the importance of connectedness/togetherness. They were requesting to consolidate the parties and bridge the difference. They stated that the aim of the party would be to mingle, and talk to souls, people never talked to and they believed it would be a legacy to future SIT students. Everyone showed to be worried that there was a communication breakdown in SITSA for 2010 final party. The presenters suggested May 21st and would ask for $300, though they would check with other neighborhoods for more donations.

Brandon Lee submitted the letter on diversity issues on campus. A copy was kept for records.

Changes were to be made on SITSA constitution. These comments should have been sent to Brittany for compiling.

Votes were done and $500 request by Julia Fisher and Noah Baker Merrill was granted.
$400 request for seed money was not granted at this time and was let for the next meeting.

The meeting ended.

Minutes were compiled by Moloko Kgare on May 13, 2010
